Elizabeth J. Nutter

Newport: Elizabeth J. “Betty” Nutter 81 died Sept. 25, 2011 at her Newport home following a long illness. She was born in Dover-Foxcroft, ME Aug. 29, 1930 the daughter of James A. and Lima (Jackson) Pinkerton. She was educated in Dover-Foxcroft schools. She was married to Edward L. Nutter. Ed predeceased her on May 12, 2011 after 62 years of marriage. “Betty” was employed as a waitress all her working life. She worked at the Yankee Restaurant and at the Gateway Restaurant both in Newport and enjoyed all her customers. ‘Betty” attended the Peoples United Methodist Church in Newport. She was an avid “BEANO” player and never liked to miss a local beano game. She also loved the Game Show Network on TV and watched it faithfully. For many years “Betty” could be seen walking all over town to get her exercise. She is survived by two sons, Roger Nutter and his wife Lidia of Hereford Arizona, Larry J. Nutter of Orlando Florida, a step-daughter Candy Persson of Brewer, one sister Gloria Reardon of Worchester MA, six grandchildren; Tracy, Paul, Celeste, Tanya, David, Daniel, eleven great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Ed, her daughter Diane in 2005 and by 4 brothers and a sister. Graveside services will be conducted 1 PM Friday Sept 30, 2001 at Riverside Cemetery Newport with Rev. Ellen Bridge officiating. Arrangements are entrusted to the care of the Brown Funeral Home and Cremation Service Center 34 High Street Newport.
