Plymouth: Erma M. Hopkins 100 died January 7, 2012 at a Pittsfield health care facility following a long illness. Erma was born in Lee, ME, November 29, 1911 the daughter of Charles S. and Florence (Gifford) Ludden. She was educated in schools in Lee, Plymouth, and attended Maine Central Institute in Pittsfield. She married Ernest G. Hopkins who predeceased her on Oct. 7, 1987. Erma worked as a machine operator for 18 years at Snowflake Canning in Corinna until it burned. She was a former member of the Plymouth Grange and the Plymouth Ladies Aid. She was a life long ardent Red Sox fan. On Nov. 27, 2005 Erma received the Boston Post Gold Headed Cane from the Town of Plymouth as their oldest citizen. Erma was predeceased by 3 sons; Lyndon, Richard, and Vernon, 2 daughters, Marilyn and Glennis, 2 grandchildren, 6 brothers; Albert, Arleigh, Arthur, Lloyd, Floyd, and Kenneth, 3 sisters, Erva, Alice, and Elsie. She is survived by two daughters-in-law Eleanor and Irma, and a son-in-law Zeb. A special niece Nadine Tasker, 11 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and several great great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Friends may call from 1 to the time of the service at 2PM Tuesday Jan 10, 2012 at the Brown Funeral Home and Cremation Service Center 34 High St. Newport. Services will be conducted by Pastor Brian Woodbury. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Activity Fund at the Pittsfield Rehab and Nursing Center, Leighton St. Pittsfield, Me 04967 in Erma’s name.
